The anointing is the power of God that comes upon a man for a performance. The giver of the anointing is the Holy Ghost/Spirit but there are various anointings; some are anointed in crafts, with figures, with healings, with engineering, some with counselling, some with prophecies or teaching, some with administrative or the helping skills.
After having a relationship with the Holy Ghost as discussed, yesterday, the next thing He does is to empower you for a specific task, which is the anointing.
Our Lord Jesus, Himself, walking the earth was anointed with the Holy Ghost/Spirit with power before He could go about doing good, and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.
To keep on having night mares is actually an oppression by the devil, and the anointing of the Holy Ghost in person will just kick him out with no time.
The anointing of the Holy Ghost is said to be the power of God and the fire of God as well, which is capable of burning everything or anything apart from God including night mares.
As and when we intensify our relationship with the Lord, through prayer, the Word of God and obedience, His anointing comes automatically, which will drive every nightmare out.

In the Precious Name of Jesus, the anointing of the Holy Ghost is upon me for performance, to drive out every oppression of the evil one, including nightmares, amen.
