Psalm 119:61 || New King James Version || The cords of the wicked have bound me, but I have not forgotten Your law.

The cords of the wicked will never be pleasant but while the Psalmist was going through turmoil in his life, he never forgot the Word of the Lord because that was his comfort; he knew that whatever happens, it is only the Word of God that will stand in his life.

Not to forget the Word of God means we need to be in remembrance every time with the Word of God, but the same Word of God tells us what to do, if and when we want or need to be in remembrance of the Word of God or not to forget it.

Deuteronomy 4:9 || New King James Version || Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren,

Thus, diligence is required when and if we want or need to remember the Word of the Lord, and diligence is hard work; diligence means, we need to be consistent with the things of God, diligence means we sit from time to time and deliberate on whatever the Lord has done and said to us through any means.

God’s elect, we need to be conscious of the Word of God, that is the only way we can remember or not to forget Him; that is how we can be victorious in our Christian life and life in general.
