Genesis 15:1 New King James Version – After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

Child of God, we have to come to a point in life where we see God above any other thing in life, either power, money, education, the list can be endless.

Now, studying the life of Abram (not yet Abraham), he was above seventy (70) years, and the Lord God had promised him a son, but the son was seem delaying in the eyes of Abram, but when God appears He tells him that; “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

This should tell us that God wanted Abram to see Him far above His promises towards him, there is nothing on earth, even ourselves, which should surpass God in our life. “I am”  means, I am, He told Abram, it means, every other thing is and should be below Him.

God’s elect, with this consciousness in our Christian experience, things will just be happening to us, miraculously, God calls Himself a jealous God (Exodus 34:14), when we put Him first, every other thing will just fall in place (Matthew 6:33).

Over time, Abram later became Abraham (Genesis 17:5); because of his obedience to the Lord God of Israel, and whatever God promised Him became a reality (Genesis 22:16-19). If he did not now make God his exceedingly great reward, there is no way he would have gone sacrificing his only son who would inherit all he had.

Declaration

In the Name of Jesus, I receive grace, to be able to know and see the Lord as our exceedingly great reward in all my endeavors, hallelujah, amen!
