The cross of Christ Jesus can be synonymous to the sufferings of Christ Jesus and this is Christ Jesus saying everyone who will like to follow Him should deny Himself and carry his or her own cross; this means there is a cross to carry.
God’s elect, one of the ways that our love would be proved for Christ Jesus is when and if we are able to endure in adversity especially when we are being persecuted because of His Name or something He has told us.
The second aspect is when and if we deny ourselves, a believer has no right over him or herself, but you become God’s, that means you have no will or desire of yourself but anything the Lord says or whispers to you. Man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Father – Deuteronomy 8:3 and Matthew 4:4
God’s elect if and when you are really and truly living by the word of God, then you will experience the fellowship of His suffering which will make you to be like Him and also fulfil purpose.
