Inspirational Nugget: Salvador Gómez Colón, 15

Salvador Gómez Colón started, a Generosity campaign after Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico to raise money for solar lamps, hand-operated washing machines, and other supplies for his neighbors in need. In four days, he raised $36,000; the total now stands at $75,000 and counting. Colón estimates that the money will be able to help at least 1,000 people. But he knows it’s only a start—and that the world should remember Puerto Rico still needs aid. “One day should not go by that we don’t remind ourselves of how we can make other people’s lives better,” he says. —Ashley Hoffmanj

A Little Sleep

Proverbs 24 New International Version (NIV) – 33A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—34 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.

This is the bible, there should not be any time in the life of the believer where he or she would be idle for any reason. God has endowed us so much that we should have something at every material moment. Please not being busybodies working for nothing. A responsible person sleeps just because he or she needs energy for the next day’s work.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might. You might be a student, or tending to your younger siblings or shops, do it wholeheartedly and diligently, we shouldn’t be folding our hands because poverty or lack will surely come upon us – God forbid for us but we need to be responsible.

Prayer

In the Precious Name of Jesus, I pray for strength and wisdom not to be sleeping when You are given me work to do, amen!
