Inspirational Nugget: Claudette Colvin
Figure 1 – Colvin @ 15 in 1954 |
Many have heard how Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat when asked to move to the back of the bus, but few realize Claudette Colvin, at the age of 15 years old, did the same thing a few months prior. She was arrested, thrown in jail, and later given probation. In the Browder vs. Gayle case, she became one of four plaintiffs claiming the segregated bus system was unconstitutional.

Holiness
1 Peter 1:15-16 Amplified Bible (AMP) – But like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves in all your conduct [be set apart from the world by your godly character and moral courage]; 16 because it is written, “You shall be holy (set apart), for I am holy.”
As He is so are we in this life, the ultimate for the Christian life is to grow into the stature of Christ or to grow into the image of Christ.
He is holy so we also need to be holy. Holiness is just set apart for the Lord as seen in our opening text. What defile the believer in the world that he or she sees himself in. This world is never the physical monument, earth or planet we see but the systems the devil has created that people see to be normal, for example, sex is now becoming a normal thing for the unmarried.
To be holy, we need not be thinking like how the people of the world think, talk and behave, we should be set aside like God’s people – be holy.
Confession
I am the Holiness of God through Christ Jesus, I live a holy life, because I am empowered by the Holy Ghost, amen!
